Current School Closure

Willow Lane School, like schools across the country, is currently closed for education until further notice. This is part of the country’s approach to handling the spread of the coronavirus pandemic. The Department for Education have said that they will only reopen schools when the scientific advice indicates it is safe to do so. Whilst there is a much speculation about when this will happen and what it may look like, there are no decisions yet. We will give our families and community as much notice of any changes as we are able to do so.

Children of key workers and vulnerable children are attending school for care where it is appropriate for them to do so. If you have any questions about your child attending school at this time, please contact the school office on 0152465880 or by email at head@willow.lancs.sch.uk. The email can be used in the event of no-one being in the office to take your call on that day.

Teachers are providing learning at home opportunities through a secure learning platform called Seesaw. Each week your child will post learning activities linked to English, mathematics and topic. These will be supplemented by other activities, such as videos of staff reading stories, and there are further suggestions for learning at home activities available on the school blog. If you have any questions about Seesaw please contact the above details.

During these difficult times, we continue to offer support and advice to the community we serve. Whilst the support school can offer may be limited at the moment, we may be able to provide advice and contact details as we are involved with other local agencies and have up to date information on what is currently available. Such support may include food banks, mental health, volunteer groups and family support services. At all times there is a DSL (Designated Safeguarding Lead) at school. If you have any concerns about your or another child’s safety then please do contact school on 0152465880.

We hope this finds all our children, families and community well and look forward to when we are able to re-open school to all children.
