Diwali

This week, the children have been learning about the Hindu festival of Diwali – the festival of light – celebrated by millions around the World. Having listened to the story of the Ramayana, the children identified messages which related to their own lives including ‘good triumphs over evil‘, ‘don’t always trust strangers‘, ‘stealing things will lead to bad things happening‘ and ‘light will show you the path to follow‘. The children also compared the festival of Diwali with festivals they knew including New Years’ Eve, Halloween, Birthdays, Bonfire Night and Christmas.
