Lancaster Canal
Green Class had an excellent trip along the Lancaster Canal to the Lune Aqueduct to celebrate Lancaster Canal’s bicentenary. This was organised by the Canal and River Trust who approached us as a local school to work with. It was most children’s first time on a canal boat and they were very excited. In particular, it made many children determined to keep our canals clean and this fit with the learning about pollution that the School Council have been leading on. We also found out about the history of the canal and looked at some of the wildlife that the canals and waterways are now home to.
