Leighton Moss
To begin our fantastic topic this half-term, Blue class visited Leighton Moss RSPB Nature Reserve. Our day started with a quick train journey to Silverdale, then investigated the pond habitat for invertebrates. We found many amazing creatures, including a very large leech, and used keys to find out more information. We then moved our search to the woodlands where the children detected many land creatures. Did you know a worm has 50 hearts?
We then split into 6 teams, who were challenged to orientate their way around the reserve using a complex map, using equipment and their scientific knowledge to answer nature challenges correctly. It was a very close call as so many groups worked incredibly hard and so brilliantly together. A fantastic day as we had loads of fun learning through practical and engaging activities.
