Money Money Money
Money is an important real life application of maths and children enjoy learning about it and using it. Children often find it tricky to see that ‘one coin’ represents ‘ten pence’ whilst another coin represents ‘two pence’. To help them with this we create problems and challenges for them to solve. For example, if you had three coins out of a 50p, 20p, 10p, 5p, 2p and 1p – what values could you have? You can try this sort of challenge at home with real coins.
