No Dig Allotment

Our allotment area is having a revamp. We are proud that all our children have the opportunity to grow, harvest, eat and cook produce grown in our school grounds and the development of this area will allow this to happen even more often. The allotment will be run along the ‘no dig’ approach which is better for the environment (the organisms in the earth are less disturbed then by regular digging over), easier for children and can make best use of our home made compost from fruit waste. A new pathway will run between the beds making them accessible for all and the U shape will allow more children to work each bed without having to stand on other crops. We are looking forward to completing this in time for planting this season.
