Every year, we mark Pi Day with a memory maths challenge. Pi (the number starting 3.14….) Day is March 14th with March being the 3rd month of the year. We challenge our children to remember Pi to as many decimal places as they can and are always impressed by their memory and recall skills. These skills are important in all areas of learning. Historically children have stood up in an assembly in the hall to recall the numbers and this year they stood in front of a green screen and were projected into every classroom during our virtual assembly. Last year we were astounded by a new record of 21 decimal places but this year our breath was really taken away. Having practised over the weekend, the children with the greatest recall took part and our four children with the best recall remembered Pi to a massive 51, 79, 82 and 85 decimal places!
