Planet Art with TIME
Indigo Class are currently learning about light, astronomy and space. This topic has provided the perfect opportunity for the children to learn new artistic skills and techniques by creating drawings inspired by the planets in our solar system. This approach also supports the children by consolidating their knowledge gained through our science lessons. Last week we were joined by a local artist, Keith Parkinson, who has helped to develop and enrich the children’s experience and learning by working directly with Mr Webster and the children in Year 5. Through drawing the planets, the children have developed their drawing skills ( including freehand circles and shading to create a 3D appearance) and techniques for adding effective colour including blending and smudging. The children and teacher are enjoying their work with the TIME artists. Thank you to HMDT Music (http://www.hmdt.org.uk/), with whom we are working on this project in embedding arts (Art, Music and Drama) to deliver the curriculum. Thank you as well to the Paul Hamlyn Foundation (https://www.phf.org.uk/) for funding this project.
