Practical Maths
As part of our children’s approach to learning mathematics, we use Maths No Problem. This scheme is modelled on the successful approach to teaching this subject in Singapore and our children really enjoy it. It really helps them solve problems and the scheme is clearly having an impact as can be seen in our outcomes getting better each year. This way of teaching maths relies heavily on children handling concrete materials (real resources), creating pictures and then using calculations to solve problems. Here you can see some children in Key Stage 2 embedding their understanding of division using these approaches.
