Strike Days

The NEU has further strikes planned for:

  • Thursday 27th April
  • Tuesday 2nd May

The NEU has posted a document that explains their reasons for taking strike action which can be found at https://neu.org.uk/media/24511/view

When strike action happens, the staff striking withdraw from work and go unpaid for the day. Therefore they are not to teach or work on this day.

This means that a risk assessment needs to take place  in terms of the number of children and number of staff that are needed to keep school open be this fully or partially.

In the previous strike days, there have been no teachers in school and this has meant that we have only been open to critical workers and vulnerable families to provide childcare as there have been no teachers to teach.

On Thursday and Tuesday teachers will be in for :

  • Year 2
  • Year 3
  • Year 5
  • Year 6

This means that these year groups will be in as normal.

The year groups that will be partially open to critical and vulnerable children for supervision will be:

  • Reception
  • Year 1
  • Year 4

Therefore there is partial closure for these year groups.

A forms will be sent to the families eligible for this from our previous list. If you have not received a message and feel that you are a critical worker then please contact the office.

Sorry for any confusion. Teachers are obviously very torn between the being in school to teach the children at such a crucial time of year and standing up for the needs of children, education and its  future.
