Survival in Year 6
The children in Violet Class have been experiencing what life might have been like in the Stone Age with two visiting historians. These time travelling experiences took place in our Wildlife Area. As well as learning about our past, they have been engaging in activities such as rope weaving, axe making and creating paints from natural materials. Not only do these creative activities give children important experiences which help them better understand this time in our history but it also helps children really imagine what it might have felt like to be there. We see the impact of this in children’s scientific (evolution etc), historical and English work because of this approach and this fits with our school ethos of ‘teach to the heart’.
