World Bee Day

At Willow Lane we have been learning about the importance of bees in the role they play in pollinating many of our plants – both flowers and food. On World Bee Day (https://www.worldbeeday.org/en/), we have learnt about the role we can play in helping them too by planting flowers, leaving habitat to grow wild, not using pesticides and by not swatting insects. Without these, and other, insects, our world would be a different and sadder place. We handled bee keeping equipment to find out about how these wonderful animals can be looked after  and give us honey. All our children have got packs of seeds to plant in gardens, window boxes and pots to help create corridors of flowers for bees too.
