Admissions


Willow Lane is a Community Primary School, which offers primary education to children aged 4 to 11. The school is organised in to seven classes of no more than 30 pupils.

 

Please note, that all admissions to school (for Reception Class and all other year groups at any time of the year) are allocated by the Primary Admissions Team (website and contact details below). They are not allocated by individual schools.

Children wishing to join the school in years other than Reception should contact the Pupil Access team to discuss spaces and schools available.

The school’s admission policy follows Local Authority guidelines for community schools. Applications are made electronically to the Local Authority for a school place in Reception and when our school is oversubscribed the admission criteria are applied. For new admissions, we will ask that you also fill out the admissions form and any relevant forms that will be sent to you via our app. School will also request a copy of a child’s birth certificate on entry.

Appeals

Your appeal should be submitted using the link below within twenty days of refusal of admission. The appeal provides you with an opportunity to explain why you wish to register your child at our school. The appeal forms and advice on how to complete them is available on the Lancashire County Council website:

Free School Meal Entitlement

All children in Reception to Year 2 are entitled to a free school meal.

However, school receives further funding called Pupil Premium for children that are eligible for Free School Meals throughout school.

From September 2026 all households receiving Universal Credit, regardless of household income, will qualify for free school meals.

Who should apply

If you receive Universal Credit and your child is not getting free school meals, apply by filling in the Lancashire online form.
