It is children who come to school to learn, play and try new experiences. Their views are important for feeding back how well we are doing and what could be done better. When teachers are observed, children are asked about their learning. When menus are devised, children’s input is taken on board. When the school created a new website, children’s ideas and views were sought.
As well as encouraging all children to share their ideas, we have specific children who help the leadership team in making decisions. Every year, two children from Year 2 to Year 6 are elected by their peers on the School Council. These children meet regularly with one of the School Governors and both raise issues from children as well as discuss issues given to them from the Headteacher. Recently, they have had input on a wide set of issues including the design for KS2 toilets, Willow points, dealing with litter, activities for Sports day and even introducing our weekly singing assembly.
